POSITION Overview:
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Engineering & Maintenance Manager directs the support teams providing the following services - Project Engineering, Process Engineering, Facilities Maintenance, Security, and Operations Maintenance. The incumbent is responsible for delivering all related Divisional, Plant and Departmental goals, including reliability, cost reduction, waste reduction, safety, quality and sanitation improvements, downtime loss reduction, as well as ensuring compliance with established operational and environmental policies and procedures. In addition, this position monitors progress towards goals and leads improvements so that capital projects and other resources are utilized to provide maximum benefits to the facility and works collectively with Plant Leadership to actualize McCormick's vision and ensure objectives are met. This role also fully engages in the Journey to Excellence process to build capability (using Total Productive Maintenance -TPM and High Performance Organization- HPO tools). This is also an active leader role within the America's Engineering Organization, participating as a Learn, Do, Teach participant building self, plant and supply chain team's capabilities across the supply chain.

Responsibilities:
Team Management: Manage day-to-day activities of Maintenance and Facilities functions, Process Engineering, Project Engineering, all project and maintenance and facility contractors. Set goals, priorities, monitor progress, and evaluate performance of staff to ensure the maximum benefit of the resources expended. Creates an empowered environment, ensuring that the Engineering, Facilities & Maintenance organizations understand the goals and objective (OGSM's) of the business and that they have the resources and support to accomplish them. Establishes an environment that ensures and supports open and healthy communications.
CAAP Execution: Prepare and manage the Capital Asset Acquisition Proposal (CAAP's) annual budget. Ensure that projects are planned properly to provide suffucient funding, review data to ensure that results are achievable, and obtain necessary approvals. Closely monitor projects to ensure they are completed as planned and that funds are utilized properly. On an ongoing basis, initiate design changes and modifications to further improve machine efficiency, to facilitate packaging design changes and cost reductions, and to expand the capability of existing equipment to handle new products.
Strategic Planning: Development of the strategic capital and 10 year site infrastucture plans, ensuring an acceptable return on investment replacement of worn or obsolete equipment, expansion of capacity to meet sales growth, equipment modification or replacement related to packaging changes or cost reduction, as well as development of expanded productive capacity for new products. Coordinate the selection, design, and layout of processing, packaging machinery to ensure efficiency, reliability, optimum space utilization, and adequate production and supporting facilities capacity.
Lead the Early Equipment Management (EEM) Pillar as part of the site's TPM process. Assure that the EEM process continuously engages the engineering, facilities, maintenance and operational teams to deliver reliable facilities and manufacturing systems by building technician's capabilty, driving continuous improvement and reducing losses. Deploy the team members cross functionally across the TPM Pillars to successfully build capability and provide improved working knowledge.
Process & Program Standardization: Responsible for ensuring that all engineering and maintenance processes are completely documented (including Capital start up plans, SOPs, DOPs, and run documents), and implement any changes to these processes. Accountable for the development and implementation of effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs, along with the establishment of a proficient maintenance stores procurement and inventory control system, as applicable.
Risk Management: Responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements pertaining to the areas of waste disposal, air emissions, and facilities permits and codes. Responsible for timely filing of all regulatory documents to the appropriate Federal, State and Local Governmental agencies. Ensure that safety, risk management and security measures are in place for the facility. This includes maintenance of sprinkler system to meet fire code and insurance carrier requirements, installation of fire fighting equipment, and maintenance of an internal alarm and evacuation system. Responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements pertaining to waste disposal, emissions, facility permits and codes. Also, responsible for timely filing with the appropriate Federal, State, and Local Gov't agencies.
Budget Management: Responsible to develop the facilities, maintenance and capital budgets to align with site strategies and plans working closely with the leadership team members. Manage departmental expense budgets with appropriate accounting information and support. Participates in the business planning and budgeting process. Develops short and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies. Manages operating budget for Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance.
REQUIRED
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
A minimum of 8 years of Engineering / Maintenance / Facilities leadership experience in food processing, pharmaceutical, beverage or related chemical processes plus progressive leadership experience, including prior leadership and development of a large technical, high performing, team.
Shop floor/information systems experience; i.e. PC, PLC, Robotics and process engineering/analytical process mapping experience.
Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), Real time production Loss Monitoring systems, PM (preventative and predictive maintenance) and related successful experience with root cause analysis to reduce losses by applying technical experience and expertise to review precedents, identify potential solutions and select the best and most viable course of action.
Demonstrated leadership experience leading multiple teams and/or departments.
Demonstrated success in managing multiple cross-functional projects and improving technician capabilities (through robust training systems).
Ability to think strategically and impact strategic initiatives, understand business drivers and handle complexity.
Demonstrated ability to lead people effectively by building and sustaining relationships at all levels required, promoting a high performance organization.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues with strong influencing, diplomacy, and partnering skills in order to grow business relationships and guide business partners to the best solutions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the use of databases for information retention and retrieval / analysis.
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to support the needs of a multi shift operation.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Experience working in a TPM Environment developing the capability of all people and reducing losses.
Experience working in a HPO and /or Self Directed Work Team environment.
Experience in Food Processing or Consumer Products manufacturing with automated, high speed packaging environments, leading support teams focusing on managing standardization, change management, risk reduction, environmental and facilities.
Knowledge of SAP, continuous manufacturing methods, related equipment and support processes.
