Medical Billing Support Specialist €“ (Hunt Valley, MD)
Job Summary:
Perform routine, non-complex clerical functions, such as sorting, filing and posting information to established records. Perform any combination of duties depending on division/department assigned as well as assisting with data entry applications and maintaining current supplies of forms and directories. May provide back-up support to other operations as required.
Job Responsibilities:
Locates, retrieves and prints materials from files (i.e. medical records, appeals, and corrected claims) and either mails or faxes them; may perform simple cross-indexing and filing of materials by following a prescribed coding system.
Processes and mails secondary claims and other claims as required by matching Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to claim, copying and deleting other patient information/details not pertinent to claims, and/or attaching relevant notes/records to claim.
Reviews and works any paper-based encounters and associated tasking.
Receives, sorts and routes incoming postal mails, interdepartmental correspondences, other records, etc.
Assists with data entry functions (e.g. patient demographics, diagnosis codes, provider information, etc.).
Maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers by providing superior customer service.
Required Qualifications:
1 plus years of experience in basic clerical experience and knowledge of relatively simple work routine, procedures High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Knowledge of accounting and math skills.
Intermediate knowledge of Excel and Windows based programs.
Ability to work independently as well as in a cross-functional team environment by collaborating with others and sharing skills and knowledge.
Strong problem-solving and analysis skills that demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with practice management software is preferred.
Experience working in accounting or a financial institution.
Experience working with NextGen software is preferred
Knowledge of healthcare carriers and payer requirements

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
